• When I am on the religious journey and you rebuke me, I will respond defensively and arrogantly. I’m liable to point a finger back at you and your sin. However, when I am on the spiritual journey, rebuke is no surprise. What you see in me is just a glimpse of much greater problems. I’m not offended that you see part of my sin, I’m just relieved you haven’t seen the worst of it.

And in the Kingdom of God, things don’t operate the same way they do outside the kingdom. There is a whole new economy, a new value system with new ways of doing everything. Our problem is that we want to live in the Kingdom of God the same way we live in the kingdom of the world.

What goes through your head when the storms rage? What goes through your head when the pain won’t go away? What goes through your head when your finances continue to go south? Again, in my head, I hear Satan’s lies. “God doesn’t care about you. If he did, he wouldn’t allow this to happen, let alone continue.” Jesus sleeps on a cushion and the disciples ask “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?” You and I lie awake in our bed late at night or early in the morning and we hear the accusation, “Jesus, doesn’t care that you're drowning?” “He doesn’t really care about you. Just look at the evidence. If he really cared, he would do something.”
