#3 You Can't Destroy God's Annointed

Saul plays his favorite party game: “Pin The Spear On David” but God’s protection frustrates Saul’s agenda.

#4 Blood Brothers

I Samuel 20

God uses David and Jonathan's powerful friendship to protect David and to draw Jonathan out of his denial.

#5 Desperate Times, Desperate Measures, Mighty God

I Samuel 21-23

Saul plays his favorite party game: “Pin The Spear On David” but God’s protection frustrates Saul’s agenda.

#6 Surviving Unsafe People I

I Samuel 24

David’s first opportunity to kill Saul leads instead to a stunning act of vulnerability.

#7 A Fool, A Codependent and a King

I Samuel 25

The story of Abigal may be one of the most misused and missunderstood stories of what it means for a woman to serve.

#8 Surviving Unsafe People II

I Samuel 26

"In spite of the fact Saul says the right words, 'I have sinned...' David keeps his distance from Saul. Why? Because David knows Saul is not a man of his word and that his sanity is only temporary. The same thing is true in our lives. We must recognize that our offenders’ seemingly genuine words of repentance do not mean that everything is now safe."

#9 Hiding In strange Places

I Samuel 27-30

David learns many valuable truths as he flees from Saul and hides in rocks, holes and caves.

#10 Scandal In High Places

II Samuel 11

God provides rumble strips, but not barricades: So often when we are heading down an ugly road, God puts warnings in our path. They are God’s way of saying, "Are you sure you want to go down this path?" They are wake up calls designed to give us an opportunity to turn to God and to others,...but if we ignore them,...God doesn't violate our free will and stop us. He will not make us obey by being a righteous bully. He warns, but he doesn't control.

#11 You Are The Man!

II Samuel 12

Sin has serious consequences. God forgave David, but his son still died. God forgave David but the sword did not depart from his house. The same thing is true in your life and my life. God forgives our sin. Our sin no longer separates us from God, but it greatly impacts our lives. God extended grace and mercy to David, but He also brought justice for Uriah and the other men David killed.

#12 Obsession, Compulsion & Revulsion

II Samuel 13:1-22

David's Son, Amnon, rapes his sister Tamar yet from this devastating story we can learn amazing truths as we look at the story from David and Amnon's perspective.

#13 Beauty, Tragedy, Desolation . . . Hope!

II Samuel 13:1-22

We again look at the story of Amnon raping his sister Tamar only this time we look at it from Tamar's perspective. Satan has very specific plans to destroy the feminine heart, distort feminine beauty, dismiss the feminine voice, and desolate the femine soul. Tamar's story begins in beauty and ends in desolation, but God has redemptive plans that go far beyond Satan's destruction.

#14 The Downward Spiral of Avoidance

I Samuel 13:23-39

David is furious over Amnon's rape of his sister but he does nothing. In the void of "nothing" and out of his own hurt and rejection, Absalom kills his brother, Amnon. David's avoidance of the issues, leads to great tragedy for his children and the nation of Israel.

#15 An Incomprehensible Retreat

II Samuel 14-15

David flees Jerusalem because he completely misunderstands what God is doing.

#16 The Consequences of Agreements

II Samuel 16:1-15

David accepts the shame and lies heaped on him by Shimei and continues his downward spiral by listening to Satan's lies. He is unable or unwilling to accept God's forgiveness and grace in his life.

#17 A God Who Never Gives Up On Me

II Samuel 16:15-17:29

Even in David’s exile, God’s demonstrates his love and commitment to his chosen one.

#18 As Far As The East Is From The West

II Samuel 18-24

In spite of David’s sin, in spite of his mess, God restores him as king over Israel.
